    We are delighted to invite you to a special HKUAANC alumni gathering in Napa Valley featuring a fireside chat with fellow HKU alumna Margaret Wong - President & CEO of McWong International, owner of Empress M & Empress Vineyards, Global Chair of HKBANC, and member of Committee of 100.

    Join us at Empress Court Vineyard for an afternoon of meaningful conversations, networking, exceptional food from Empress M, and curated wines from Empress Vineyards in a beautiful Napa Valley setting.

    The afternoon will include:

    • Buffet lunch served from 12:15 PM - 1:00 PM
    • ⁠Fireside chat with Margaret Wong from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM


    Our lunch experience will feature a specially curated buffet by Empress M alongside a wine tasting from Empress Vineyards, including:

    • 2022 Pinot Noir
    • 2023 Cabernet

    Guests will enjoy a menu featuring signature dim sum favorites, including shumai, shrimp dumplings, barbecue pork buns, Empress chicken wings, Mongolian beef, northern dumplings, shrimp fried rice, and desserts, paired with wines from Margaret's vineyard.


    We expect an intimate gathering of approximately 40-50 alumni and friends, creating a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with the HKU community while hearing Margaret's inspiring journey across entrepreneurship, community leadership, hospitality, and cross-border business building.


    About Margaret Wong

    Margaret Wong is the President & CEO of McWong International Inc., headquartered in California and recognized as an industry leader in the design and manufacturing of high-quality lighting control systems and related electrical and electronic components. Her business portfolio also spans culinary education, restaurants, wine vineyards, and esports education across the U.S. and China.


    With more than 38 years of experience building and connecting multi-million-dollar businesses between the United States and China, Margaret has earned recognition as the "Business Empress" through features in publications including the Sacramento Bee, Comstock's Magazine, and numerous industry journals.


    Margaret serves on several prominent business boards and commissions, including the California Chamber of Commerce, California Asian Chamber of Commerce, the Asia Board for the Themed Entertainment Association, and as a California Governor's Appointee to the California Citizens Compensation Commission. She is also a member of Committee of 100.


    A Hong Kong native and proud HKU alumna, Margaret earned her B.S. degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Hong Kong before immigrating to the United States in 1974. She is a proven entrepreneur known for her successes in import/export, manufacturing, investments, energy-efficient technologies, lighting innovations, and AI-related ventures. Over the years, she has received numerous nationally recognized honors, including the prestigious President's "E" Award and Export Businesswoman of the Year from the U.S. Department of Commerce Minority Business Development Agency.


    Margaret's expertise has made her a trusted advisor to business and government leaders for decades. She has led hundreds of successful trade missions and business delegations between the U.S. and China, working alongside California Governors, the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Department of Energy, and various sister-city initiatives. She was selected as one of only 25 business leaders invited to participate in the Presidential Trade Mission to China under the Obama Administration, helping create strategic partnerships between the two countries.


    In addition, Margaret played a pioneering role in helping bring the NBA to China and has long been a champion of sports, education, entrepreneurship, and international goodwill, establishing herself as one of the most influential advocates for U.S.-China business and cultural exchange.
